He nodded "They're spotty, not the best student remember? But whats there is probably better than that." He said nodding to the convoluted pile of notes.

He pulled some pages from his folder and handed them over. The notes made sense and were organized but there were gaps in the information.

"They'll do. Thank you" Astrid gave him a sweet smile and took the notes, moving them next to her notebook as she started to write down bullet points from her notes. Her handwriting was incredibly neat, especially for writing so quickly and being left handed.

He smiled back before facing the front again.

His hand writing was actually fairly neat compared to most boys in his grade. Likely something he could thank his art practice for.

He glanced over at Mariana and gave a smile and a thumbs up. Then, he switched notebooks and began to take notes.

"Thank you. I at least know where the class is going now. Still sounds weird to me this whole silver rush thing."

He looked at Laura for a second before regarding Astrid curious about her answer.

"So... imagine Colorado... no technology, just a band of people trying to hit the mines and find precious metals... risking life to the weather and illness... just to leave poverty, persecution. Just want to start a new life. Dreams forge in the idea that the mountains contain this precious metal... The beauty of a lake... shining so bright..." The teacher trailed off. Astrid now knows why his notes are a mess.

"I can understand a notion of rushing to discover the resource here, the town I lived in was a coal mining town. But gold and silver? Perhaps it is just a culture thing, but it sounds strange to me" Astrid said with a small frown, although she went silent as the teacher began to speak again.

"Does this teacher always wander off into tangents?" she whispered, looking at first Laura then Cameron.

"I guess I will have to find the school library. Could you show me where it is on campus? I assume tomorrow rather than today, first day and all" Astrid frowned "not all teachers are like this I hope?"

"While I do like a story, I want to learn" Astrid added as she looked back to the teacher.
