(D1 LM Open) Lunch is....ew

[Astrid Hansen]

Astrid let go of his hand and reached for her fork again. Looking like she was trying to drum up courage to even attempt to eat more. There was a small laugh at the question.

"Could you imagine a gang operating in a village of at most 900 people? We do have a lot of seals though, always hanging out in groups ready to steal your food at a moments notice."

[Cameron York]

"Damn, seals are a menace." He laughs as well "hustling people for their food."

"If it makes any difference the food isn't always this bad. Chicken nuggets are actually alright. Monday is the worst day in my opinion."

[Astrid Hansen]

"They're quite friendly actually. Not that you should ever trust a seal. They'll hear you from miles out, even if you can't see them they can hear you."

There was a sceptical look.

"Is it actually chicken?"

[Cameron York]

"You make them sound friendly but also kinda spooky like they are always listening and waiting."

He nodded "it is. Not like fresh or anything but it is chicken. Might only be good in comparison to the rest of the food but it is what it is."

[Astrid Hansen]

"Well our most common seal is something like 5 foot in length. The less common ones, grey seals I think they're called? Can be up to 10 feet long. Quite heavy too so if they roll or jump at you and you end up under them you could be crushed. Thankfully they're just very slow on land."

There was a small thoughtful expression as she bit into the 'mystery meat' once again.

"Which...day is Chicken normally?"

[Cameron York]

"Note to self, don't get close to seals if I ever got to the arctic. Being crushed to death isn't my idea of fun."

Heblooked thoughtful for a moment "um honestly can't remember right now."

[Astrid Hansen]

"Don't worry, you'd be mauled to death by a polar bear before you were crushed by a seal" Astrid said with a shrug "unless it's mating season, but then it's your fault for trying to go into an area with seals during mating season."

She put down her fork.

"Ok I can't do this. I'll have to phone my father to ask for some money so I can make and bring lunch tomorrow. Do you want some? This cannot be good for you."

[Cameron York]

"Oh good I'd be mauled to death by isbjorn. That makes me feel better." He grins

He shook his head "Nah I may not think it's as disgusting as you but I'm in no rush to eat a bunch of it."

[Astrid Hansen]

"You pronounced that almost perfectly, good job" Astrid said with a nod of approval "you may not even notice it was an isbjørn though as they blend in well. Ground is white, hills are white, bear is white."

There was another nod.

"Ok, we meet here same time tomorrow and I bring something in for us. I'm sure it'll be fine!"

[Cameron York]

Cam looked a bit surprised "Shit I mean I'm all down to eat lunch together again but like you don't have to buy food for me."

[Astrid Hansen]

"I'm not buying food for you. I'm going to make it by hand" Astrid shrugged "making portions for two people is easier anyway."

[Cameron York]

"That's like even more of a thing." He said frowning for a second but he got thile impression by now that Astrid was the kind of person that when she got an idea she was gonna follow through on it.

"Just like, you don't have to. But thanks."

[Astrid Hansen]

"It is easier for portioning. Plus it means you will have a decent meal as well" Astrid motioned to the food "this is not good. It'll likely make you ill if you live off it."

[Cameron York]

Cam let out a short laugh and shook his head "You're very stubborn. In a good way though. OK, here tomorrow same."

[Astrid Hansen]

"I have been told that before" Astrid said with a small laugh "but it is for peoples own good. You should always know what you want and do what you need to get it, otherwise people will take hesitation as a reason to further what they want to do."

She picked up another carrot.

"At least I think of helping people while being...stubborn."

[Cameron York]

He smiled "yeah you're very blunt but you seem to care about people a lot. I just haven't met a lot of people like you. Might be a cultural thing."

[Astrid Hansen]

There was a shrug.

"It is a common thing in Norway so maybe cultural as you say. Being blunt and just saying what you think instead of trying to dance around something that is easier just said straight. Not an uncommon thing in a lot of Europe actually so it is something you should get used to before coming over. I'm guessing it's not a common thing in America?"

[Cameron York]

He shrugged "politeness and all that. Some people find being too direct to be rude. It's not unheard of, just not common."

Cameron tilted his head a little "how much of Europe have you seen? I thought you spent most your time on your far away island."

[Astrid Hansen]

"Only Norway, however on Svalbard we have a large number of non-Norwegians living there as it's a research island as much as an actual island. If it wasn't for my parents I wouldn't live there either, but nobody is born or dies on Svalbard they all move there" Astrid picked up another carrot, which seemed to be all she was risking "even for a small village of not many people there is a lot of mixes."

[Cameron York]

Cam thought for a moment "assuming most people that come to the island are like scientists right? And you were raised by a scientist. Could be a scientist thing." He shrugged.
