Alice always had a smile on her face. Today was super special for her because science and other things that she was called for. Sinew institute wanted her input on the data they had found and it made her very elated. She was writing on the board some chemical equations.

First to arrive would be someone the teacher had not seen before; black hoodie, jeans, and pink hair with black ribbons
Astrid decided that she'd get there earlier to talk to the teacher first. Science classes were usually more of a problem for new students if they came halfway through after all. At least this teacher was on time though, as Astrid approached.
"Yo."

Second to arrive was Sybil; who took in the scene with an impassive gaze for a moment. If anyone looked her way, she would give them a "Yo", having decided that this must be the new thing all the kids were saying.

Miss Donovan turned to look at the girl. "Heeey! You are new!" Then she looked at Sybil. "Hey Sybil! Is your hair still getting used to the weather?" Alice always found Sybil's hair fascinating.

"Yes I'm new" there was a nod "I'm Astrid. I wanted to check if there was any specific place I needed to go? Or do I need to wait to be assigned to groups?"

"Oh no... no...no... you choose where you want to go. The best thing of science is experimenting with different..." The teacher laughed. "That sounded wrong... But it is chemistry, you know." She nodded. "I am Miss Donovan... Alice Donovan."

"No, my hair doesn't have opinions on the weather I don't think," she said before taking a seat.

It wasn't that Jono didn't like science. It simply didn't excite him. Like math, it was all about facts and how consistent they were. Nothing really changed. Things happened they way they were supposed to. It wasn't much of a plot.
He was staring absently at a safety poster, wondering about the cartoon scientist on it. Was his obsession about safety due to a horrific accident in his past?

"Ok...so there are no active experiments in progress that someone halfway through would be interfering with? That is surprising" Astrid nodded "thank you. I will wait for a few more to claim seats then sit somewhere."
She turned to look at the others that had already arrived.

"No... Science Fair will be next month. That reminds me..." She added a note to the board about topics to study. "Today we are talking about stuff... energy stuff..." It sounded very unscientific but that is how she rolled.

Laura ducked into the classroom and once again sat right next to the door.
"Good afternoon Ms. Donovan."

Looking over all the options in the room Astrid shrugged then walked through to dump her bag down next to Laura before claiming the seat.
"Å være født bak en brunost" she muttered to herself as she took her notebook and pencil case out of her bag

Cam wandered in a little after the bell, he looked around and noticed two familiar faces her found a seat behind Laura and Astrid. His hood was still up and his headphones were on but he was there.

"Lunch food was terrible, and the lessons seem...entirely without a good structure or plan. Is this normal for American schools?" Astrid replied, peeking first at Laura then back at Cameron who had dropped in behind them.

Cam hadn't heard her question but caught her looking back at him. He nodded a greeting the headphones over his ears just visible beneath his hoodie.

"Yeah pretty much. Teachers have a lot of leeway to teach in their own style, some only teach from the book word for word and some teachers never open the book. Most of the real learning is in the advanced classes. School in America is a glorified daycare. If you have a good memory or take lots of notes like me you can read all the textbooks at the start of the year and coast by in classes like English and History."
She pulled out a red spiralbound notebook, an image of George Washington riding his horse over a field of Native American corpses on the cover and slid it over to Astrid then turned to look at Cameron. "You two have met already?"
