This system TN are based on difficulties

Code: Select all

Task Difficulty Description Target No. Guidance
0 Routine 0 Anyone can do this basically every time.
1 Simple 3 Most people can do this most of the time.
2 Standard 6 Typical task requiring focus, but most people can usually do this.
3 Demanding 9 Requires full attention; most people have a 50/50 chance to succeed.
4 Difficult 12 Trained people have a 50/50 chance to succeed.
5 Challenging 15 Even trained people often fail.
6 Intimidating 18 Normal people almost never succeed.
7 Formidable 21 Impossible without skills or great effort.
8 Heroic 24 A task worthy of tales told for years afterward.
9 Immortal 27 A task worthy of legends that last lifetimes.
10 Impossible 30 A task that normal humans couldn’t consider (but one that doesn’t break the laws of physics).

Note that:
If you are trained the task difficulty is dropped by 1.
If you are specialized the task difficulty is lowered by 2.
If it is an innability raises the task difficulty by 1.

Example:
Martha is trained in trickery and want to prank a teacher. The difficulty for such task is 4 because the teacher is always on high alert. For Martha the task is 3 so she needs to roll a 9 or more to succeed.

Alan is specialized in video games and wants to do the special move in the Mortal Fighters 2 game the task is difficulty 6 because the code is one very secret. He lowers the task to a 4, has to a TN 12 to be able to use the secret move.

James is clumsy and want to escape the classroom. He has an innability to stealth. The usual number to roll would be a TD of 3 but his innability takes the TD to 4 he has to beat a TN of 12.
